However the best fiction is appealing by virtue of its beauties (which may include thinky-ness) ; a wise, or at least not *unwise* use of the reader's time, because it is true; and enjoyable by virtue of its good craftsmanship.
If it happens to cause one to engage in shiny thinky-thoughts that is a pleasant yet unnecessary bonus.
