Senator Travis unveils his “cowboy speeding ticket” on Judge Connor and Senator Castillo. Will she get her chance to announce her candidacy? Find out in Episode 49: A Premature Conclusion.
The judge had been more or less on Castillo's side up to this point in the trial. That's why I had Castillo's thugs torch his car, so he'd have a motive and justification for letting Travis get his way by prematurely closing out the trial and "deplatforming" Castillo.
Incidentally, that was also a highly effective tactic in high school speech and debate tournaments: taking much less time than you were allowed, making a short, powerful, pithy summation, and then throwing the ball back at the other side, denying them the prep time they were anticipating and making them have to go ahead immediately with whatever they could scramble to pull together.
Castillo also seems to think that cause and effect dont apply to her. Such as her attempt to block Dr Lachman from giving her expert even after Professor Bucckman had been allowed their testimony.
Correct me if I am wrong but thinking that this would not backfire on her seems to be an example of acausality.
No " bad karma" no" reaping what you sow" so to speak
Partly, she was stalling to buy more time for the influence campaign to work on Mike. Partly, she figured (correctly) that the court would back her play because she was technically correct based on procedure. That procedure is customarily streamlined, overlooked, and waived if both parties consent, which was Travis' working assumption. So, Castillo really did out lawyer Travis there, realizing that she had no need to keep her word and could renege with impunity. But yes, it was an underhanded move on her part which calls for some authorial payback.
I couldn't portray it well, so I decided not to, but there had to be that dawning moment of realization for Castillo that Travis had just played her own game against her and was about to get away with it under the exact precedent she'd set and used against him.
Love it. "Oh, you wanted a platform for your screed? Sorry." *yank* 😈

👏 I enjoyed seeing Castillo fall on her face. Too mch hate in her.

And that soon I expect
Very soon!
Oh, the best is definitely yet to come!
Masterful job of presenting all sides of the issue. Which, fortunately, usually reveals one side or more to be untenable.
It's about time Senator Castillo found out that a lot of thing " are not fair "

Which is what makes this scene in my opinion so well done.
