From the photo at the top of the substack, I was expecting a woman’s voice to be one of the auditions! Anyway, of all the available auditions, I preferred #2 overall.
Number 2. He's okay on the 4 main different types of voices (Down home older guy, average young man, southern woman, standard TV snotty older female). He's pleasant enough to listen to. He hits the right tone/emphasis from the start. I do not love his voice, but I am also not your purchasing audience. I prefer books on CD from the library.
Number 4 has a good range of expression. He handles the regional accents well enough. His pitch change for male/female is also okay. If he can up his game on the reading he'd be my 1st pick. I like his voice, and he does get into the rhythm of the story better than 2 by the end.
Numbers 1 and 3 are too regionally focused. Each is off on one voice type, however #1 is very pleasing to the ear.

I appreciate all the feedback. Thanks for taking the time to listen to the audiobook auditions..

I'm embarrassed to say I have not read my copy yet. If it is set in the south, go with #1. If it is set anywhere else go with #3.
That's easily corrected! Thanks for the feedback.
#2 - Best voices for characters.
#3 for me. Great style. #2 does a great job as well.
I like #2 Best narration over all. Number One is a close second I do like his folksy style. Thanks again forgiving us a chance to vote on narrators
Number 2. Clear and easy to listen to. Keeps the focus on the story, not the narrator.
